Confirmation is the Sacrament which gives us the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. It completes the grace we receive at Baptism and helps to make us strong and faithful followers of Christ. It is a time when an individual (the candidate) says 'I do believe' the promises made by my parents and god-parents on my behalf at my baptism.
Confirmation is administered by the Bishop (or one of his Vicar-Generals) who anoints the candidate on the forehead with the holy Oil of Chrism, the laying on of hands and saying 'Be sealed with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit'.
Candidates are normally young people in Year 8 or above at school. The preparation course is run every other year.
For 2013, preparation and Confirmation will take place in the Autumn.
If you wish to join this group please contact Deacon Mark or the parish office.
