Life-giving Sacrament of Holy Communion

Jesus has given himself to us in the Holy Eucharist to nourish and strengthen his life within us - the life and love of God that we received at our baptism. Jesus said: 'I am the living bread which has come down from Heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live for ever.'

We believe we are receiving the true Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ hidden under the appearance of bread and wine.

It was Pope Saint Pius X who taught us the importance of receiving Communion regularly and lowered the age at which children made their First Holy Communion. Children are normally in Year 3 or above at school when they start to prepare.

Although the children from both parishes are prepared together, they tend to make their First Holy Communion in their individual parish.

We have a great team of catechists who really engage the children's interest through various activities and celebrations of progress. The course normally runs from January to June, on a saturday morning at St Pius X Church. The catechists are hopefully building on what you have already taught your children and your continued support is very important to your child..
